Special Intensive Courses (SINC) (ten hours per week).

Tuition for Special Intensive Courses is $960.

In addition, a quarterly registration fee of $35 is required the each quarter in which you register for a course. Please review the policies regarding this fee by visiting the link "Registration Fees" at the left.

Withdrawal and Refund policies for Special Intensive Courses (SINC)

As the Special Intensive Courses offer more hours per day than the regular course (four hours as opposed to just two hours for the regular courses), our refund policy in the case of the special intensive classes is based on the following principles:

Any student may withdraw from a language or regional studies class at any time. A student, however, is entitled to a refund only under the following conditions:

• The student submits his/her withdrawal in written form and
• The student withdraws no later than the end of the third (3rd) day of classes.

Refund Schedule

1. A refund will then be given according to the following schedule:
   In the event that MEI must cancel the class, all tuition, as well as the $35 quarterly registration fee and the processing fee will be refunded. Should a student wish to retain membership with the Middle East Institute s/he may contact the Membership Coordinator at 202-785-1141 ext. 200 for details.
2. If student withdraws before classes start s/he will be refunded 100% the amount minus all non-refundable items as listed in item #3 below.
3. Non-refundable fees and costs include:
   
   1. $35.00 quarterly registration fee
   2. $140.00 class processing fee for Intensive classes-included in tuition
   3. Costs of books, tapes, CDs, DVDs and any other supplemental materials
   4. Costs of extra-curricular events and activities

   Note: Student will retain all purchased texts and supplemental materials, as well as Middle East Institute membership.

4. If a student withdraws any time after the beginning of classes but no later than the 3rd day of classes, the non-refundable fees and costs will be subtracted from the total paid. The balance ($820.00) will be prorated on a daily basis as follows:
   • 90% of the balance will be refunded for requests received during the 1st day of classes
   • 85% of the balance will be refunded for requests received during the 2nd day of classes
   • 75% of the balance will be refunded for requests received during the 3rd day of classes

   No Refund is available after the 3rd day of classes.

5. Withdrawals will receive a confirmation email. Reimbursements may take up to 45 days to be processed; if you have not received confirmation, please contact us by phone at (202) 785-2710 or by e-mail at languages@mei.edu including the words "Withdrawal" or "Refund" in the Subject line.
