Xiaojie Xu


XU Xiaojie is Chair Fellow at the Institute of World Economics and Politics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, where he has directed the World Energy Research Project since April 2009. He worked at the China the National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) from 1983 through 2009, where he served as the first Director of Institute of Overseas Investment Climate Research, CNPC (2000-2009), have been advising State Energy Bureau on go-abroad policy, CNPC, CNOOC and some other state owned energy companies on doing business abroad. He is the author of the Petro-Dragon’s Rise, what it means for China and the world (European Press, in English, 2002) and Energy Black Swan: Global Games for Hydrocarbon Resources and Chinese Options (in Chinese, 2011) along with numerous writing and speeches on investment, corporate strategy and governance in both Chinese and English. He graduated from Zhejiang University in 1983.
