The Middle East Institute and the Conflict Management Program at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) were pleased to host Roy Gutman, Middle East bureau chief of the McClatchy newspapers, fresh from a reporting trip to Tehran.

In interviews with Iranian government officials and experts, Gutman explored Iran's policies in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen and the potential impact of Iran's nuclear deal with the P5+1 on Tehran's regional ambitions.

Mr. Gutman shared his insights from Tehran, after which respondent Joyce Karam, Washington Bureau Chief for Al-Hayat Newspaper, an international Arabic daily based in London, commented on reaction to the deal in the Arab press and concern about increased regional turmoil. SAIS faculty member and MEI scholar Daniel Serwer moderated the conversation.
