
The Middle East Institute is pleased to welcome Ghaith al-Omari and Khaled Yazji, two former Palestinian Authority officials, to examine the domestic political crisis in Palestine.
Currently a Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation, Mr. al-Omari served until 2006 as director of International Relations at the Office of President Mahmoud Abbas. A member of the Palestinian negotiating team throughout the permanent status negotiations, he was the lead Palestinian drafter of the Geneva Accords.
Mr. Yazji, who received his Master’s degree from American University, held several senior positions within the Palestinian Authority, including serving until 2006 as Deputy Interior Minister and as a senior advisor in the Office of the President.
