MEI is pleased to welcome Syeda Abida Hussain and Syed Fakhar Imam to offer their views on the current domestic political situation in Pakistan.
A three-time elected member of the National Assembly, Ms. Hussain served as Pakistan’s ambassador to the US from 1991 to 1993. Ms. Hussain was appointed Minister of Information in 1990 and Minister of Environment, Agriculture, Women’s Development and Population Planning in 1997.
Mr. Imam served as the speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly and was the leader of the Parliamentary Opposition Group in the National Assembly in the 1980s. In 1990, Mr. Hussain was appointed Federal Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Education.
