MEI, in conjunction with the American Institute of Pakistan Studies and the Aschiana Foundation (a non-profit working to eradicate poverty amongst Afghan children), is pleased to present one of Pakistan’s leading scholars, Dr. Syed Rifaat Hussain, to discuss Pakistan’s foreign policy toward Iran and Afghanistan.

Dr. Hussain is a Professor with the Department of Defense and Strategic Studies at Quaid-I-Azam University in Islamabad. He earned his PhD and MA at the University of Denver, and has taught courses in locations ranging from the United States at Stanford University to Pakistan including at the Pakistani Foreign Service Academy (Islamabad) and Fatimah Jinnah University (Rawalpindi). Dr. Hussain is the author of several books, including Afghanistan and 9/11: The Anatomy of a Conflict and From Dependence to Intervention: Soviet-Afghan Relations During the Brezhnev Era (1964-1982).
