Long before America’s interest in the oil of the Arabian Peninsula, Americans traveled to the region to improve the lives and wellbeing of the region’s inhabitants. Dr. Paul Armerding’s new book Doctors for the Kingdom relates the dramatic and inspiring true story of how missionary doctors entered Arabia – more than 100 years ago – resolved to spread healing beyond their homeland. Armerding, Chief Medical Officer and CEO of the American Mission Hospital in Bahrain, has constructed this fascinating but obscure history from archival records, first-person accounts, and over 100 photographs and maps. He will be on hand to discuss his work, sign copies of his book, and answer questions.
