
The Middle East Institute is pleased to invite you to hear visiting Lebanese Member of Parliament Jawad Simon Boulous share his insider impressions on Lebanon's national dialogue. MP Boulous will speak on the UN Brammertz report, due to be released on Tuesday, which covers the probe into the assassination of the late Prime Minister Rafiq al-Hariri. He will also discuss internal Lebanese politics, particularly with regard to the future of Hizbollah.
Jawad Boulos holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the American University of Beirut and a Bachelor or Arts in Business Administration from the same university. He also holds degrees in International Law from Sorbonne (France) and in Lebanese Law from the Universite St Joseph in Beirut. He earned his MBA at INSEAD in Fontainebleau (France).
He was elected to the Lebanese Parliament in the summer of 2005 for the district of Zgharta, North Lebanon as a member of the March 14th movement. He was also elected as a Secretary of Parliament and to the Budget and Finance Commission and the Economy, Trade and Industry commission. He was directly involved in the proceedings of the National Dialogue during the first part of 2006 in support of MP Boutros Harb representing the independent Christian grouping within the March 14th coalition.
He is 40 years old and married with three children. He is a corporate lawyer specializing in insurance matters and is perfectly trilingual (Arabic, French and English).
