The Israeli-Palestinian Crisis: Situation and Prospects

Featuring:

Jan de Jong
Mar 1 2007 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm

The Middle East Institute and the Foundation for Middle East Peace are pleased to welcome Jan de Jong to assess the Israeli-Palestinian crisis in the context of attaining Palestinian socio-economic viability as the core foundation for the Quartet-targeted Two-State solution. In his presentation, he will review crucial Palestinian urban and rural development imperatives and examine how these are prejudiced by the construction of Israeli settlements and roads, and the Separation Barrier, particularly in places such as the Etzion settlement bloc, Qalqilya and Nablus, the Jordan Valley, and Jerusalem. The presentation will also include territorial options for a Two-State solution and the capacity for Palestinian viable statehood with each of them.

Mr. de Jong is the Cartographer for the Foundation for Middle East Peace and has served as a strategic planning consultant for the PLO Negotiations Support Unit, the World Bank, and other organizations.

Space is limited, and a light lunch will be served.
