
The Middle East Institute is pleased to welcome H.E. Dr Muhammad Abdul Ghaffar to speak about Bahrain, its role and relations in the Gulf region. He will also look at the political and economic impact of the Iraq crisis and continuing tense relations between Iran and the West over its nuclear ambitions.
Dr Ghaffar was appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in 2001 and reappointed by royal decree in 2003. He was named Minister of Information in 2005. Dr Ghaffar has served as Ambassador to the United States (1994-2001) and as Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the United Nations (1990-2004).
