MEI is pleased to host Egyptian human rights activist Dr. Saad Eddin Ibrahim to offer his predictions for democratization in Egypt and the rest of the Middle East.
Dr. Ibrahim founded the Ibn Khaldun Center for Development Studies in 1988. The Cairo-based research and advocacy institute focuses on the issues of democratization, political capacity building and social development. Dr. Ibrahim's advocacy of democratic reforms and outspoken criticism of the Egyptian government resulted in his arrest and imprisonment in 2000. He was acquitted of all charges in 2003 and has continued his work as a democracy advocate.
