
The Middle East Institute presents a half-day conference on security, relief-to-development, and state-building in Afghanistan. Questions will include: Has the US achieved its stated objectives in Afghanistan? How much "mission creep" may now be present? How can the US leave? How many promises has the US fulfilled to date and how many will the US fulfill before it leaves? The US point man on Afghanistan, Ambassador William Taylor, will keynote. His Excellency Said Tayeb Jawad of Afghanistan will make closing remarks.
