The Middle East Institute and the Foundation for Middle East Peace, in partnership with Busboys and Poets, are pleased to host Israeli intellectual, journalist, and historian Tom Segev for a discussion on his recently published book, “1967: Israel, the War, and the Year that Transformed the Middle East.”

Mr. Segev currently writes for Ha’aretz, publishing a weekly column dealing mainly with the politics of culture and with human rights. One of the best-known and most frequently quoted journalists in Israeli media, he has published numerous books on a wide range of topics. His works include “1949: The First Israelis” (Hebrew, 1984, English, 1998), “Soldiers of Evil: The Commandants of the Nazi Concentration Camps” (1988), “One Palestine, Complete: Jews and Arabs Under the British Mandate” (2000), “The Seventh Million: Israelis and the Holocaust” (2000), “Elvis in Jerusalem: Post-Zionism and the Americanization of Israel” (2003), “The Other Israel: Voices of Refusal and Dissent” (2004), and “Israel in 1967. And the land changed its visage” (Hebrew 2005).

Mr. Segev grew up in Jerusalem, and did his military service at the National Defense College. He received his BA in History and Political Science from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, and his Ph.D. in History from Boston University.
