The Middle East Institute is pleased to welcome professor Joshua Landis to discuss Syria's internal political situation. Professor Landis teaches Middle East History at the University of Oklahoma and maintains www.syriacomment.com, an Internet blog on Syrian politics that is widely read by academics and officials in Washington, Europe and Syria.

Landis recently returned from Syria where he was a Senior Fulbright Research Fellow. He is the author of numerous articles, and his book Democracy in Syria will be available later this year.
